China opens a new maritime gate to South-East Asia. The Pinglu Canal, inaugurated on Thursday in the south of the country, now connects Nanning to the Gulf of Tonkin. 134 kilometres long, it is the first large canal between a river and the sea built in China since 1949. A construction site of nearly ten billion euros, intended to unblock the west of the country and to accelerate trade with Southeast Asia.
