Man Dies After Van Plummets Off Cliff at UK Beauty Spot
Police said the van’s driver was found dead as officers investigate the circumstances and a damaged cliff-top fence near the scene.
On Wednesday, July 1, Sussex Police received a report of a van going over the cliff edge at Peacehaven at about 4.30pm, with the unidentified driver found deceased at Friars Bay.
Following the incident, Sussex Police and Lewes District Council officers established a cordon near Seaview Road, urging the public to avoid the beach area.
Photos submitted to local media show emergency personnel including ambulances and the coastguard at the scene, while fencing along the cliff top near Seaview Road sustained damage.
Sussex Police are investigating the full circumstances of this incident and the coroner's officer has been informed, with the location remaining cordoned off during enquiries.
Lewes District Council officers remain on-site supporting the operation as authorities continue to request that the public avoid the beach area in Peacehaven during the ongoing investigation.
