- Long teased under the codename `GlobeTrotter`, Varanasi promises a sweeping time-travel adventure rooted in Hindu mythology, with Rajamouli linking one major sequence to the Ramayana.
- A massive 110-by-130-foot LED screen flanked by replicas of Varanasi's ghats showcased the first teaser, though a drone leak disrupted test runs the previous day.
- Projected for a 2027 release and IMAX exhibition, Varanasi drew thunderous applause as cast members Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran said `The whole of India will be proud of us`.
- Prithviraj Sukumaran, introduced earlier this month as antagonist `Kumbha`, called the role `physically and emotionally exhausting` and credited Rajamouli for pushing him during the demanding 60-day shoot.
