Phishing warning as number of dodgy emails reaches all-time high
More than 56 million phishing emails have been reported, a 44% increase, and 252,000 fraudulent website addresses were removed, officials said.

- A spokesperson for the force added: "By reporting phishing attempts you can reduce the amount of scam messages you get, make yourself a harder target for scammers and protect others from cyber crime."
- Locally, Waukegan Township officials warned residents on Wednesday that their email systems were "compromised," urging people to immediately delete emails with the subject "NEW DOCUMENT NOTIFICATION."
- Residents can verify suspicious township emails by calling 847-244-4900, as officials work to restore regular access while urging users to avoid clicking any links contained within the messages.
