- Er Hao, an 87.25-meter deep-sea research vessel, functions as a mothership for submersibles, and the PCG Islander aircraft pilot issued multiple radio challenges during the MDA flight, which the vessel did not answer.
- The PCG said it will keep monitoring and challenging unauthorized activity under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., while the Chinese Embassy in Manila did not immediately respond amid China’s war games around Taiwan.
- Philippine authorities note they have monitored China Coast Guard vessels `unlawfully operating` in the EEZ since early 2025, stressing that unconsented marine scientific research would breach Philippine and international law.
