There is a link between the chemicals PFAS in pregnant women and changes in their children's brains five years later, researchers have confirmed in a new study. "We were surprised to see such a strong connection," says Tuulia Hyötyläinen, professor at Örebro University.
For the first time, researchers can show how PFAS in pregnant women affects their children's brains in the long term. The Finnish-Swedish study shows that structural changes can be seen in the children when they are five years old.
