Welsh Residents Linked to Hantavirus Outbreak
PHW says a small number of Welsh residents linked to the outbreak are self-isolating and receiving daily checks after eight confirmed cases.

- The MV Hondius cruise ship departed Argentina on April 1 with 150 passengers, and the outbreak has since claimed three lives while authorities manage eight confirmed cases and two suspected infections.
- Passengers undergo a 45-day isolation period at Arrowe Park Hospital in Merseyside; six individuals returned home Wednesday to continue isolation. Officials emphasize hantavirus is "not spread through everyday social contact."
- PHW coordinates with the Welsh Government and UK Health Security Agency to manage the response, providing affected residents "regular precautionary testing" and "daily assessment for the duration of their self-isolation."
- Officials maintain there are no known cases of hantavirus in Wales and the risk to the general public remains very low. Robust arrangements exist to provide urgent medical attention if symptoms appear.
