TORONTO — Penny Oleksiak won the women's 100-meter freestyle event on Friday at the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Trials. Oleksiak completed the distance in 53.66 seconds, just over the Olympic standard of 53.61. She beat Quebec Mary-Sophie Harvey, who stopped the clock in 53.71.
