Penn State assistant Deion Barnes resigns to take job at South Carolina

Barnes left Penn State after three years to advance his career as South Carolina’s defensive line coach under Stan Drayton, joining the staff shortly after the season ended.

Deion Barnes, who had been on the Penn State football coaching staff since 2020, resigned earlier this week to become the defensive line coach at South Carolina. A Philadelphia native, Barnes is a former Penn State defensive end who played from 2012-14 and was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2012.
