NEW YORK – After 20 years, Slovakia is ready to serve again as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, declared President Peter Pellegrini at its Wednesday session on the war in Ukraine. According to him, Slovakia wants to be a responsible partner that offers a balanced approach and is ready to contribute to a meaningful path to peace. The Slovak Republic is running for the UN Security Council for the years 2028 and 2029.
Peter Pellegrini will speak at the UN General Assembly today. Slovakia is also promoting its candidacy for the Security Council in New York and is trying to strengthen contacts with key partners.
