In Nantes, some 30 former students of Saint-Stanislas College-lycée, a private Catholic school, claim to be victims of rape or sexual assault during their schooling between 1958 and 1995. Most of these people responded to a call for witnesses jointly launched at the end of August by the Church – the bishopric of Nantes – and by the local administration of Catholic education, a rare step.
Emmanuel Cocaul is the first victim to have testified in the media of the sexual violence suffered during his schooling at Saint-Stanislas Catholic College in Nantes. Since the revelations of the diocese on August 29, and the call for witnesses, forty new victims have reported.
