Peachland pickleball court expansion a smashing success for the community
The $215,000 expansion adds sound-reducing measures after years of requests and gives Peachland players more court space.
- On Friday, Sept. 4, the Peachland community celebrated the grand opening of two new pickleball courts at Lambly Park, completing a long-awaited expansion of the facility.
- Constant lineups at the original two courts drove demand for expansion, which the District says residents have requested since 2023.
- The $215,000 project includes $20,000 for sound-reducing plexiglass sheets. Pickleball President Randey Brophy stated the District conducted 80 sound measurements confirming noise levels meet community standards.
- Peachland Mayor Patrick Van Minsel joined about 100 residents at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. "We gave people this opportunity so they can keep moving," Van Minsel said.
- The new courts integrate into the existing sports park, which includes soccer fields and a skate park, with the District anticipating the site will serve residents and visitors for years.
