Southern PDP leaders rejected the Lagos zoning summit as exclusionary and premature, warning any outcomes lack legitimacy and threaten party unity, party sources said.
- On Aug 21, 2025, State Chairmen of the People's Democratic Party from Southern Nigeria and other stakeholders disowned a zoning meeting at Legend Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, with O.K. Chinda declaring its resolutions illegitimate.
- The PDP Zoning Committee convened the PDP Southern Zoning Consultative Summit at the Legend Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, called by the Administrative Secretary at Senator Douye Diri's behest.
- Despite reported exclusions, attendees included Governor Seyi Makinde , Governor Douye Diri , Governor Ademola Adeleke , 12 of the 17 members of the Zoning Committee, and National Assembly members.
- They urged the National Working Committee and National Executive Committee to disregard the Lagos meeting's outcomes, labeling them illegal and divisive, and warned of resistance under the PDP constitution.
- The Lagos summit is slated to influence the November 15th and 16th convention input, but Southern leaders said it was premature and self-serving as the Zoning Committee has not submitted its report for NEC ratification.
