Iceland has decided against accession negotiations with the EU, which must make Brussels think, and the progressive centralisation deters successful states.
The No to the resumption of the negotiations on EU membership does not cancel the reality of the facts: Iceland is part of the European economic system, its participation is an opportunist one: it takes the advantages without the burdens, but then pays the financial burdens of this participation in the club, as do Switzerland and Norway and as will the post-Brexit United Kingdom. The vote is not the triumph of independence, but of interdependence
