Patrick Ewing returns to coaching after serving as a Knicks advisor and ambassador
Ewing returns to coaching after two decades as an NBA assistant, bringing experience from four teams and Georgetown to Brian Keefe’s staff.
On Saturday, Basketball Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing agreed to join the Washington Wizards as an assistant coach, according to an ESPN report.
Transitioning from his role as a Basketball Ambassador for the New York Knicks, Ewing returns to coaching after leading the franchise in points, rebounds, and games played during his 15-season tenure.
Previously an assistant for the Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets, Orlando Magic, and Charlotte Hornets, Ewing also led Georgetown to a Big East tournament title in 2021.
Former NBA head coach Steve Clifford is also joining the Washington Wizards as a coaching advisor, reuniting with Ewing after their time together on the Charlotte Hornets staff from 2013 to 2017.
The Wizards look to improve upon a 14-68 record from last year with Trae Young, Anthony Davis, and AJ Dybantsa, as Ewing joins to work with the team's veteran stars.
