Helsinki aesthetic clinic ordered to halt services after safety inspection
Finnish authorities have ordered Medical Centre Estetic Oy in Helsinki to stop providing healthcare services after inspectors found unlicensed medicines, unauthorised treatments and deficiencies affecting patient, data and medical device safety. The Licensing and Supervisory Agency carried out an unannounced inspection at the clinic on 26 August together with the Finnish Medicines Agency Fimea and the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency Tukes.
According to the supervisory authority, the company itself did not identify the severity of the shortcomings.
The Licensing and Supervision Agency found serious deficiencies in the clinic. The clinic also performed treatments for which it was not licensed.
The Licensing and Supervision Authority found that patient, information and device security is seriously compromised in the operations of Lääkäriklinikka Estetic oy.
A Helsinki clinic offered aesthetic treatments to patients that may have jeopardized patient safety. The chief inspector tells Kauppalehti that the Licensing and Supervision Authority has made three suspension decisions this year concerning aesthetic clinics.
