Attacks on medical systems are gaining momentum, and with them, the risk of not only your PESEL number, address, or phone number falling into the wrong hands, but also information about illnesses, treatments, and the most intimate health issues.
The leak could have affected up to two million patients.
The FELG system for dental offices has fallen victim to a cyberattack, the e-Health Center team reported on Friday. The incident is currently being monitored by services and institutions, including CSIRT CeZ. According to reports from Sekurak and Niebezpiecznik, 2.4 million patient records may have been leaked.
The perpetrators of another cyberattack are demanding a ransom in exchange for the non-disclosure of data on over 2 million patients. They are also threatening doctors, claiming they are prepared to disclose the data of dentists who prescribed "psychotropic medications/stimulants." The data was stolen through dental office software.
Dental practice software provider FELG Dent has fallen victim to a hacker attack. According to Niebezpiecznik, the criminals took over sensitive patient and doctor data and demanded a ransom to keep the database private.
Hackers have contacted INNPoland claiming to have breached the FELG Dent system used by dental practices. They have leaked information about 2.4 million patients and 1.2 million prescriptions, including PESEL numbers, addresses, and phone numbers. FELG Dent confirmed the cyberattack and the ransom demand, but offers a different story regarding the perpetrators and the scale of the breach.
