Party City celebrates return to Las Vegas valley on Saturday
- Staples and Party City have partnered to open mini-stores within over 700 Staples locations nationwide, creating a "single destination" for party supplies and print services, according to a joint announcement on Tuesday.
- This launch follows Party City's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in late 2024, after which New Amscan, an affiliate of Ad Populum, purchased the retailer's intellectual property and wholesale operations for $20 million.
- Marshall Warkentin, Staples U.S. Retail president, stated the partnership expands "what customers can accomplish in one place," combining helium balloons and party supplies with print and marketing services for celebrations.
- Michaels CEO David Boone noted his company targeted the party and craft segments left open after Party City's exit, introducing a "Party Shop by Michaels" in every store within the last six-seven months.
- Additional mini-store openings will occur later in 2026, though retail analyst Neil Saunders of GlobalData expressed skepticism, noting that "Staples and fun are not natural companions" for consumers.
