Park City Getting an Olympic-Sized Halfpipe Again when Snow League Heads to Utah in 2027
The Snow League is reviving Park City's 22-foot halfpipe to boost U.S. training and competition amid rising international rivals, with the event hosting top riders Jan. 22-24.
- On Tuesday, The Snow League, founded by three-time Olympic champion Shaun White, named Park City as a contest site for the 2026-27 season, returning professional halfpipe competition to the Utah resort town.
- The competition brings elite snowboarding back to the venue that hosted the 2002 Olympics, where American men Ross Powers, Danny Kass, and JJ Thomas swept medals and Kelly Clark won gold.
- Scheduled for Jan. 22-24, the event marks Season Two of The Snow League. "Park City Mountain has always been one of the most important places in snowboarding and freeskiing, so bringing The Snow League here for Season Two feels incredibly special," White said.
- The United States has been shut out of the Olympic halfpipe podium since White won gold in 2018, a drought coinciding with a surge of top Japanese riders and fewer training pipes nationwide.
- With Park City slated to host Olympic snowboarding in 2034, this return to elite competition establishes critical training infrastructure for domestic athletes ahead of the Winter Games.
