Panthers sign forward Markus Kazuta for the 2026-27 season

The Port Moody Panthers announced today that the team has signed 2007-born forward Markus Kazuta for the 2026-27 Pacific Junior Hockey League season. Kazuta played two games with the Panthers as an affiliate player during the 2025-26 season while also suiting up for the Burnaby Minor Hockey Association U21 team. Before that, he spent the 2024-25 and 2023-24 campaigns with the Burnaby MHA U18 squad and Burnaby North Secondary School. “I am excited to play with the Panthers because it is a well-run organization with a good team environment,” said Kazuta. “I think it’s a great opportunity to be part of a competitive team where I can continue to develop my game. I also had a really fun time being an AP last season and meeting all the players and staff.” Before advancing to the U18 ranks, Kazuta developed within BMHA, playing through its grassroots and school program streams. “My goal this season is to continue developing my game, be physically stronger, and be a more consistent, reliable player,” noted Kazuta. “I want to contribute as much as I can to the team’s success.” Kazuta played his first game of the 2026-27 PJHL season with the Panthers on Sept. 11 in a 3-1 road victory over the Aldergrove Ironmen. “I would describe myself as a gritty, two-way forward who plays with lots of speed and energy,” explained Kazuta. “I’m hard on the forecheck, don’t shy away from physical play, and try to make life difficult for opposing teams. I am excited to be part of the team this season.”
