National Zoo's Giant Pandas Bao Li and Qing Bao Make Public Debut
Three-Year-Old panda bears Bao Li and Qing Bao made their official public debut at the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute on Friday, receiving great fanfare from the Washington, D.C., community.
Bao Li and Qing Bao arrived in Washington, D.C., in October and have spent months acclimating to their new surroundings and caregivers.
The pandas will stay in Washington under a 10-year loan agreement, with any cubs they have moving to China by age 4.
To celebrate, the NZCBI will host a two-week District of Panda Party with events including a Lunar New Year celebration and a screening of Kung Fu Panda.
