Former broadcaster Pamela Wallin steps down from Senate
A Senate clerk’s note informed the Chamber of her departure, and her biography now lists her as a former senator.
Senator Pamela Wallin resigned from the Senate effective Sunday, October 18, 2026, with the clerk of the Senate confirming her departure on Monday morning.
Former broadcaster Wallin was appointed to the Upper Chamber in 2009 on the advice of Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
A Conservative Senate source confirmed the resignation Monday morning, and the official Senate website now lists Wallin as a former senator.
No specific explanation was provided for the departure, though the Senate clerk notified the Chamber of the vacancy on Monday.
Wallin would have reached the Senate's mandatory retirement age of 75 in 2028, leaving the Saskatchewan seat vacant until a new appointment is made.
