Pakistan Navy Rescues 20 Crew Members From Sinking Cargo Dhow East of Ormara
Pakistan Navy and PMSA recovered all 20 crew members after a distress call from a cargo dhow that was taking on severe flooding.
On Thursday, July 9, 2026, the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency rescued all 20 crew members from a sinking cargo dhow east of Ormara.
Following a distress call, the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre reported the cargo dhow was experiencing severe flooding; this alert triggered an immediate search and rescue operation.
The PNS Hunain and aerial assets were immediately diverted for the operation, which the Inter-Services Public Relations described as a "swift and coordinated emergency response."
According to the ISPR, the 20 rescued crew members from China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia are receiving necessary medical attention.
Reflecting the Pakistan Navy's commitment to maritime safety, recent operations included the rescue of 18 crew members in the North Arabian Sea in April and humanitarian assistance in May.
