Pay an ATM Fee? You May Be Eligible for a Share of $167.5 Million
The deal could reimburse eligible ATM users, with Visa paying $88.775 million and Mastercard $78.725 million, according to settlement documents.
Visa and Mastercard have agreed to a $167.5 million settlement to resolve a class-action lawsuit, though the companies deny any wrongdoing.
Plaintiffs in Burke alleged that Visa and Mastercard violated antitrust laws by restricting how independent ATM operators could set fees, forcing cardholders to pay higher access costs.
Consumers who used a non-bank ATM in the United States between Oct. 24, 2007, and Aug. 14, 2026, may qualify if they paid an unreimbursed access fee.
Eligible claimants must submit a claim form online or by mail by Feb. 10, 2027, though the administrator may later request receipts or bank statements to verify information.
A final approval hearing is scheduled for Feb. 17, 2027, and if approved without delays, the administrator anticipates distributing payments within six months.
