Jordan Love Says Surgery Was Right Choice with Time for Thumb to Heal Before Season Starts
Jordan Love returned to practice a week after thumb ligament surgery and is expected to resume throwing soon, aiming to start the Packers' season opener on Sept. 7, coach said.

- On Saturday, Love hit his hand on a helmet when sacked by Jay Tufele in the preseason opener against the New York Jets, leading to a ligament injury that required surgery.
- Jordan Love returned to practice Thursday wearing a red non-contact jersey and a cast around his surgically repaired left thumb, and he took part in Monday’s practice with his thumb taped, said LaFleur.
- Amid Love’s rehab, Malik Willis will be interim starter for the Packers on Sept. 7 against the Detroit Lions, and Love is expected to be ready for the opener.
- Love said he wanted to enter the season 100% healthy after passing for 3,389 yards and 25 touchdowns in 15 games last season, and he emphasized finishing camp fully healthy.
