Over 54,000 names removed from Sikkim electoral rolls after SIR exercise

  • On Sunday, Electoral Registration Officers in Manipur published Final Photo Electoral Rolls for all 60 Assembly Constituencies, completing the special intensive revision process mandated by the Election Commission.
  • The Election Commission carried out this revision across 19 states and Union Territories, beginning when The Draft Electoral Roll was published on July 5, 2026, with 19,34,399 electors.
  • During the verification period from July 5 to August 4, 2026, Electoral Registration Officers processed 96,985 claims and objections, adding 56,871 voters and deleting 30,650 electors from the rolls.
  • The Final Electoral Rolls now stand at 19,60,620 voters, including 20,819 service electors. Electoral Registration Officers handed Copies to representatives of recognized national and state political parties on Sunday.
  • Data indicates 6.33% of voters were left out after the final list publication, and concerns persist that the revision could eliminate genuine voters, as Scroll has reported.
