COP31 President Murat Kurum spoke at the Pre-COP Leaders' General Session in Fiji. Kurum drew attention to the sea level risk in Tuvalu, stating that the 1.5-degree target is a matter of life or death, and called on the world to take action for COP31 in Antalya.
COP31 Chair and Minister Murat Kurum, as part of the Pre-COP program, inspected the Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project on-site with country representatives. Kurum stated that they listened to scientists and local people in Tuvalu, and that they would bring the island's voice from the meetings in Fiji to Antalya.
