Oregon Shuts Out Nebraska 8-0, Advances to Big Ten Final
Will Sanford struck out 9 in six scoreless innings as Oregon finished with 8 runs and 10 hits to set up a title game against UCLA.
On Saturday night, the No. 3 seed Oregon Ducks defeated the No. 2 seed Nebraska Cornhuskers 8-0 in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, advancing to Sunday's championship game against UCLA.
Oregon ace Will Sanford pitched six scoreless innings, allowing only two hits while striking out nine to stymie the Nebraska offense that recorded just four hits and was shut out for the first time in the tournament.
Freshmen Angel Laya and Brayden Jaksa, alongside shortstop Maddox Molony, provided run support with solo home runs; Jaksa's seventh-inning blast marked the team's 100th home run of the season.
Nebraska ended the night with a 42-15 record, falling short of the championship game, and now awaits Sunday evening's NCAA Tournament announcement to determine if the Huskers will host a regional in Lincoln.
Sunday's title game will feature Oregon against the Bruins, who reached the final after a 7-5 win over rival USC in their own semifinal matchup at noon PT.
