Optimization of TC Transcontinental’s Printing Network: Owen Sound Facility to Close at End of January
The company will shift work to five other plants and later sell the property, affecting about 360 employees, Patrick Brayley said.
On Wednesday, Transcontinental Inc announced it will close its printing facility in Owen Sound, Ontario, at the end of January 2027 as part of optimizing its integrated national printing network.
The Owen Sound site, known as the Transcontinental RBW plant, was acquired from the Southam commercial printing group in 1992 and has operated under Transcontinental for over 30 years.
At a meeting Wednesday at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre, COO Patrick Brayley confirmed the closure to 360 employees, stating the decision was "not made lightly."
Work will be redistributed to five other plants across the country, the property will eventually be sold, and affected employees will receive support through career transition services.
Transcontinental retains a strong Ontario presence, with approximately 40% of employees working in the province and operations continuing in Vaughan, Aurora, Brampton, Paris, and Mississauga.
