Several opposition parties are critical of the turn the cabinet has taken regarding the potential closure of Moerdijk. In late May, State Secretary Jo-Annes de Bat (Climate, CDA) reported that a scenario in which the North Brabant village could continue to exist is "more emphatically" being considered. Contrary to earlier announcements, there will be no cabinet decision this month.
