Open burning ban will be lifted in the Kamloops Fire Centre later this week
BC Wildfire Service says the change also allows fireworks, burn barrels and other equipment, while local governments may keep their own restrictions.

- Category 2 and 3 open fires involve specific piling limits, with category 2 fires burning material in piles not exceeding 0.2 ha and category 3 fires exceeding those thresholds; the rescind applies to all areas outside municipal boundaries.
- Alongside open fires, permitted activities now include fireworks and air curtain burners. Anyone lighting a Category 3 fire must first obtain a burn registration number by calling 1-888 797-1717.
