- On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu mourned the death of Peter Onwubuariri, an Assistant Director, Media, at the Presidential Villa, who died in Kano at age 48.
- Before his Villa posting in 2014, Onwubuariri rose through the ranks at NAN, becoming an Assistant Editor-in-Chief and serving under Presidents Goodluck Jonathan, Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu.
- The President described the late journalist as a consummate professional whose diligence and sound judgment earned him the respect of colleagues and demonstrated deep understanding of media-government relations.
- Tinubu extended his condolences to Onwubuariri's wife, Catherine, his three children, extended family, colleagues and friends, praying for strength for the family and eternal rest for the deceased.
- Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga issued the statement on Tuesday in Abuja, noting that the late journalist's passing is a significant loss to the Presidency, NAN, the media community and Nigeria.
