In 'Le Procès Pelicot,' Swiss director Milo Rau brought four months of the landmark Pelicot mass rape trial to the stage on Friday, July 18, with unflinching rigor and an avoidance of sensationalism.
Swiss Ensignor Milo Rau created a 5-hour piece based on the judgment of rape that shocked France and the world. "The Pelicot Trial" showed itself this sixth in Avignon. It arrived in Lisbon in October.
The Avignon Festival proposed, on the night of July 18-19, a striking scenic return on the Pelicot trial, only a few months after the hearings held at the courthouse of the city of popes.
In two cases of attempted rape and rape, followed by a murder dating back to the 1990s, Dominique Pelicot could escape justice after "disappearing" evidence.
