Less than two weeks after the V16 beacon becomes a mandatory device in vehicles circulating throughout Spain, including Ceuta’s, the controversy about its legality and practical application continues to grow. A Barcelona law firm has openly questioned the legal basis for the obligation to carry this device, even calling it illegal and pointing to alleged regulatory shortcomings in the preparation of the measure.

From 1 January 2026, the V-16 light beacons will be mandatory in Spain, just as the presignal triangle and the high visibility vest at home are currently mandatory.
