One in 10 Brits would buy next door to choose their neighbours after a lottery win
The National Lottery study found 52% would spend on something frivolous, while 97% would share a jackpot with family, partners or charity.
The Powerball jackpot stands at £318 million, and The National Lottery revealed that 97 per cent of people would share their winnings with others, spreading their fortune among three people on average.
A survey of 2,000 adults found that 52 per cent would do something frivolous if they won, yet research commissioned by The National Lottery shows generosity remains a huge part of the dream.
When sharing their potential fortune, 61 per cent would gift money to their partner, 52 per cent would give some to their children, and 16 per cent would even give their pet some of the winnings.
However, 35 per cent admitted they would be secretly gutted to see someone else win, with those already wealthy topping the 'anyone but them' list at 30 per cent, followed by former partners at 25 per cent.
Andy Carter, senior advisor for Allwyn which operates the lottery, said: "While people may admit to a little harmless playfulness when imagining life as a millionaire, the research shows generosity remains a huge part of the dream." The draw closes for entries at 11.55pm on Monday.
