A man drowned in the Kanawha River near Dunbar, West Virginia on April 20, 2025, after a one-person kayak carrying two people capsized. Capt. Dwayne Duffield with the Division of Natural Resources identified the victim as Julio Lopez, 26. Alba Perez, 30, was saved by bystanders. Lopez appeared to be a resident of Dunbar, West Virginia.
