Potentially Historic Winter Storm to Slam Much of the US with Destructive Ice and Heavy Snow

- An estimated 100 million people were under watches or advisories Wednesday, with parts of at least 19 states including Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana under winter storm watches.
- Major travel disruption and possible long-lasting power outages are expected, with major U.S. hub airports Dallas-Fort Worth, Atlanta, Memphis, Tennessee, and Charlotte, North Carolina facing delays.
- State and local officials have mobilized crews and equipment ahead of the storm, including Georgia Governor Brian Kemp's seven-day emergency and Texas Governor Greg Abbott's state emergency activation with 1,000-plus winter machines deployed.
