For the time being, Qatar does not want to continue negotiating with Israel and the militant Islamist Hamas about a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The Foreign Ministry in Doha said that its mediation role would be suspended until further notice. However, it is not over for good and could be resumed if both sides show sufficient determination to end the brutal war.
Qatar confirmed on Saturday that it had suspended its mediation between Israel and Hamas in view of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza associated with the release of hostages, until the belligerents showed “seriousness” in the negotiations.
