Obama Is Set to Campaign with Democrats in Ohio and Michigan as He Ramps up Midterm Efforts
- On Saturday, former President Barack Obama campaigned in Cleveland, Ohio, supporting Democratic candidates Amy Acton and Sherrod Brown while attacking President Donald Trump and Republican gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy.
- The rally followed controversy over a $4 million campaign ad by Ramaswamy featuring Acton's estranged mother, which critics alleged exploited her childhood trauma to save his stumbling campaign.
- Obama criticized Ramaswamy as "thirsty" for attention and quipped that Trump seems "very focused on home renovation" at the White House, claiming the administration failed on lowering consumer costs.
- Acton denounced the ad, stating, "Mr. Ramaswamy, you are not just out of touch, you are out for yourself and you are a danger to my state." The event aims to boost Democratic turnout in Ohio's toss-up races.
- Obama travels to Michigan later Saturday night for candidate Abdul El-Sayed, as Democrats seek to secure control of Congress in the November 3 midterm elections. Midwestern battlegrounds remain critical for determining the balance of power.
