Denver Live Entertainment Giant's CEO Indicted, Resigns

Timothy Leiweke, CEO of Oak View Group, was indicted in July 2025 for allegedly conspiring to manipulate the bidding process for the Moody Center arena project at a public university located in Austin, Texas.
The indictment alleges Leiweke conspired from 2018 through 2024 to persuade a competitor to drop bidding in exchange for subcontracts, which he allegedly did not honor.
Oak View Group, which led the development of the arena that opened in 2022, agreed to pay a $15 million penalty, while Legends Hospitality consented to a penalty of $1.5 million; however, OVG did not admit any fault in the matter.
Assistant Attorney General Abigail Slater stated that the defendant manipulated the bidding process to favor his own company, and legal experts highlighted that bid rigging is a serious offense under the Sherman Antitrust Act, carrying penalties that can include up to a decade of imprisonment and fines reaching $1 million.
Leiweke resigned as CEO, will remain vice chairman and shareholder, and negotiations with the DOJ for a possible settlement were expected, with a trial pending if no plea occurs.
