Jets Adding Younghoe Koo to Their Kicker Competition, AP Source Says
Younghoe Koo has made 185 of 217 career field-goal attempts and joins Cade York and Lenny Krieg in a Jets kicking competition.
The New York Jets are signing kicker Younghoe Koo to compete for the starting role, according to multiple reports. The 31-year-old native of South Korea attended Ridgewood High School in New Jersey.
Before his recent struggles, Koo earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2020 with the Atlanta Falcons, posting a 94.9 percent field goal rate during his seven-season tenure in Atlanta.
His 2025 season with the New York Giants included a notorious missed field goal during a Monday Night Football loss to the New England Patriots, leading to his December release.
In an unusual development, Mark Toothaker, a stallion season manager, revealed the botched kick inadvertently saved his life when he suffered a seizure watching the game, leading to discovery of a benign brain tumor.
Joining the Jets, Koo competes for the position against fellow kickers Cade York and Lenny Krieg, with the roster spot opened after former Jets kicker Nick Folk signed with Atlanta in March.
