N.S. minor hockey player pleads guilty to sexual assaulting teammate
The boy changed his plea to guilty on a charge involving a mini hockey stick, while a second accused player is headed to trial.
On Tuesday, a Nova Scotia youth pleaded guilty in a Truro courtroom to sexual assault with a weapon involving a teammate during a team sleepover.
The assault occurred during an October 3, 2025, team sleepover in Colchester County, where two 14-year-old players allegedly used a mini hockey stick against a 13-year-old rookie teammate.
Prosecutor Patrick Young said Tuesday that "All sexual violence is serious, and are taken seriously by the police and by the Public Prosecution Service," urging victims to come forward.
The second accused youth, also 15, maintains a not guilty plea and faces trial scheduled for February, contrasting with the first youth's guilty admission.
Identities of all involved minors remain protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, ensuring privacy for both the accused and the victims throughout the proceedings.
