Fugitive caught at Notting Hill Carnival sentenced for murdering ex-girlfriend's father
HACKNEY, NORTH-EAST LONDON, JUL 18 – Kamar Williams was sentenced to life with a minimum of 29 years for stabbing Derek Thomas five times in a revenge attack linked to a family dispute, court heard.
- On Friday, Kamar Williams was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 29 years at the Old Bailey for the stabbing of Derek Thomas.
- Earlier this month, Judge Angela Rafferty KC said Williams was `simmering with rage` after arguing with Carron Thomas’s family, jurors heard.
- He then stabbed Derek Thomas five times, killing him on the street minutes from his home with his shopping strewn around him.
- Williams evaded police in a car chase on August 3 before being detained at Notting Hill Carnival on August 26.
- In a statement, Carron Thomas said he was a `kind, gentle and loving man`, and his family said his passing has left a massive hole in their lives.
