Solomon denied discussing Brad Scott’s future with Essendon’s board and said he will not chase the full-time coaching job this season.
Interim Essendon coach Dean Solomon rejected claims he informed the board about Brad Scott's performance, denying any discussions with club president Andrew Welsh this year.
The Bombers sacked Scott on Monday after winning just one game in 2026; Solomon, a former director, said he had no influence on the board's decision.
When asked directly on Thursday whether he discussed Scott's performance with Welsh, Solomon was adamant: "Not at all, not one bit." He stated he respected Brad as a player and coach.
With momentum building for James Hird to return after his Tuesday declaration, Solomon ruled himself out for the full-time role, saying, "I won't even consider that."
Solomon rejected the notion an "Essendon person" needs to coach the club, stating, "You don't have to be an Essendon person to coach this club," citing successful examples.
