Norway’s Andreas Schjelderup convicted in Denmark for sharing sexual video of minors
- In Copenhagen, the court convicted Norwegian national team football player Andreas Schjelderup of sharing sexual material of two under-18 boys, and Judge Mathias Eike handed him a two-week suspended prison sentence.
- Schjelderup said he received a 27-second video on the Snapchat app and forwarded it to a group chat of four friends, then realised the subjects were under 18 and rapidly deleted it.
- Aged 21, Andreas Schjelderup last year played for FC Nordsjaelland and now plays for Portuguese club Benfica; he has eight caps and featured in five of Norway national team's World Cup qualifiers.
- The suspended sentence means Schjelderup will serve jail time only if convicted of another crime during the next 12 months; the prosecutor had sought at least 20 days, while Anders Nemeth said the defence would deliberate on an appeal.
- Against that backdrop, the Norwegian national team qualified for the 2026 World Cup after a 4-1 win away to Italy, and Schjelderup apologised on Instagram on November 8.
