Northern Lights Music Festival founder Veda Zuponcic is dead at 79

DULUTH — Veda Zuponcic, a world-renowned concert pianist and music teacher originally from Aurora, died June 3 at age 79. The cause was neuroendocrine carcinoma, said her son, Gavriel Heine. While Zuponcic was widely known for her multi-decade career as a performer and for a teaching career of over 50 years at New Jersey's Rowan University, in the Northland, she was best appreciated as the founder of the Northern Lights Music Festival.
