North Korea conducted the first test firing of its new Choe Hyon-class multi-purpose destroyer earlier this week, Kyodo news agency reported on Wednesday, citing North Korea's state news agency KCNA. Experts say the missile systems resemble Russian ones, fueling speculation that Moscow is providing technological assistance in exchange for North Koreans fighting alongside the Russians in Ukraine, Yonhap news agency added.

US State Department spokesman Tammy Bruce said in a press conference that Washington "continues to be concerned about North Korea's direct involvement in the war" and "North Korea's military deployment in Russia and any support provided by Russia to North Korea in return must cease."

North Korea Fires First Missile from New Warship

North Korea earlier this week conducted the first test-firing of the weapons system of the new "Choe Hyon-class" warship it recently unveiled, state media KCNA reported on Wednesday.
