North Dakota Game and Fish opens wildlife photo contest
Contestants may submit up to five North Dakota photos, and a winning image will be published by Game and Fish, officials said.
The North Dakota Game and Fish Department has opened the 2026 Watchable Wildlife Contest, inviting photographers to submit images across three categories: non-game species, game species, and plants and insects.
For submission instructions and complete contest rules, interested photographers should visit the Game and Fish Department website at gf.nd.gov/wildlife/watchable-photo-contest. Department conservation supervisor Patrick Isakson is available at pisakson@nd.gov for questions.
Entries will be accepted online from Sept. 15 through Oct. 31, with photographers granting the department permission to publish winning photos in North Dakota OUTDOORS and on social media channels.
An overall winning photograph will be chosen, with the number of place winners in each category determined by the volume of qualified entries received during the submission period.
Staff will host an information center at the State Fair in Minot from July 17-25, located in the Conservation and Outdoors Skills Park on the north end of the fairgrounds.
