Nolan's 'The Odyssey' Leaks on X, Viewed by Millions
Universal said it began takedown protocols after unauthorized uploads of Christopher Nolan’s film drew more than 2.1 million views on X.
On Saturday, a high-quality bootleg of "The Odyssey" circulated on X, amassing more than 2.1 million views before the account was suspended within three hours.
Released on July 17, Christopher Nolan's blockbuster "The Odyssey" continues to draw massive crowds, grossing over $600 million globally despite persistent piracy incidents.
Universal Pictures stated they "immediately initiated takedown protocols" to protect intellectual property, while the film earned $87 million in its second weekend according to Rentrak, a data analytics company.
A lower-quality version appeared Sunday, garnering nearly 50,000 views before removal, though most remaining files on X are mislabeled links redirecting to Rick Astley's 1987 song "Never Gonna Give You Up."
X owner Elon Musk criticized the film's casting choices while announcing his AI tool Grok Imagine would generate a "historically accurate" version of the movie later this year.
