'Nocturne' cast previews crime thriller
The first two episodes arrive as the adaptation follows a retired detective and an FBI agent tracking a missing boy and a serial killer.
- On Friday, Apple's Nocturne premieres globally, adapting the internationally bestselling crime novel The Sandman by Lars Kepler into a new thriller series.
- Co-Showrunners John Hlavin and Rowan Joff adapted the novel The Sandman, though critics argue the series fails to capture the brilliance of the original Scandinavian noir source material.
- Liev Schreiber stars as retired homicide detective Jonah Lynn investigating a boy's reappearance alongside FBI agent Saga Bauer, while Stephen Graham portrays serial-killer villain Jurek Walter.
- Within the Restricted Housing Unit at Riverside, Jurek terrorizes staff and patients while Jonah navigates chaos in Fairhaven, Pennsylvania, following a boy's reappearance.
- Apple will air new episodes every Friday through December 25, 2026, as audiences evaluate the adaptation of what The New York Times called a "grisly" Scandinavian noir.
